Kathirasan (Kathir) is the Founder and Managing Director of the Centre. He is a Certified Mindfulness Teacher - Professional (CMT-P), and a Qualified Supervising Teacher of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA). He has practised mindfulness for more than 20 years and is world renowned for being a scholar-practitioner of the ancient Indic traditions of Meditation and Philosophy.
In 2016, Kathir developed the Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing Enhancement (MBWE) program which is a hybrid of MBSR and MBCT, coupled with the philosophy and intentions of Positive Psychology. Since then, he had brought Secular Mindfulness beyond the spheres of clinical settings and he continues to promote its appreciative value. His unique contributions to the field of Mindfulness include the focus on the often neglected cultural adaptations of Mindfulness programs, which is much needed when teaching in diverse cultures, and the teaching of secular Mindfulness without compromising with its ethical foundations. Since 2017, he has trained and certified many Mindfulness teachers, focusing on developing their skills to adapt the teaching of Mindfulness to different cultures/settings and being ethically committed.
Kathir has the ability to contextualise Mindfulness within any culture and in the areas of education, leadership, teaching, learning, personal development, coaching, counselling, career development and stress management. Being an OD Consultant, Kathir sees the relevance of Mindfulness in Organisational and Workplace settings.
He is the author of four books: ‘Mindfulness in 8 Days’ (2017), 'Mindfulness Based Leadership' (2018), 'Mindfulness for the Family' (2020) and 'Introducing Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing Enhancement' (2023).
Kathir brings over 25 years of working experience as a Leader, Project Manager and Consultant. He has a penchant for strategic thinking and has the ability to integrate diverse systems for organisational success. He is familiar with various Mindfulness applications in Educational and Corporate settings. He has also spoken at various conferences and forums on mindfulness.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Meditation, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and is a certified Yoga Instructor amongst his many qualifications.
