Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing Enhancement (MBWE)

The Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing Enhancement (MBWE) program, established in 2015, represents a significant evolution in mindfulness-based interventions by uniquely combining the principles of Mindfulness and Positive Psychology 2.0. As an appreciative Mindfulness-Based Program (MBP), MBWE is designed to enhance overall wellbeing and happiness for a wide demographic, including healthy individuals and those with clinical challenges.

Our Flagship 8-Week Mindfulness Course

This 9-session program, conducted over 8 weeks, facilitates a comprehensive understanding of the happiness paradigm. Participants are empowered to proactively enhance their wellbeing, equipping them with the tools and insights needed to navigate life's challenges and opportunities. By immersing yourself in this course, you'll discover the keys to unlocking a more meaningful and flourishing existence, fostering a profound sense of personal growth and contentment.

"This is one of the most significant and distinctive teaching intentions of the MBWE. It is the wholeness of our being that creates the capacity to discover happiness and wellbeing as a phenomenon that is always available and ready to be discovered through mindfulness." - Dr. Kathirasan K & Dr. Sunita Rai

Results after 8 weeks

  • improved self-awareness

Key technical features of MBWE include:

1. Enhancing Clarity of Purpose and Meaning: MBWE is dedicated to assisting you in achieving a deeper understanding and alignment of your life's purpose and meaning. This is achieved by harmonising your long-term aspirations with the significance found in everyday experiences.

2. Focus on WELLBEING, HAPPINESS and RESILIENCE: Unlike traditional MBPs that primarily target stress reduction or mental health issues, MBWE fosters the enhancement of wellbeing and happiness, treating participants as whole beings capable of discovering ever-present happiness and resilience.

3.  Embracing BEING and DOING: The program balances 'being' and 'doing', recognising the necessity of action and desire in achieving happiness. It incorporates action plans approached with a non-striving attitude.

4. Balanced INSIGHT Facilitation: Integrating positive psychology and appreciative inquiry, MBWE enables participants to acknowledge both positive and negative life aspects, fostering flexible attention, greater acceptance, and enhanced awareness.

5. SOCIAL Dimension and Common HUMANITY: MBWE expands mindfulness practice to include a social dimension, addressing the critique of MBPs' neglect of social aspects, thereby promoting a sense of common humanity.

6. Unique Session Structure: MBWE sessions begin with metaphor-based meditations to stimulate curiosity and personal interpretation, followed by themes like being curious, holistic wellbeing, response-ability, focusing on what works, meaningful engagement, generating perspectives, mindful living, and the future in the present moment

7. Program Adaptability and Structure: Suitable for participants as young as 16, with adapted versions for younger audiences, the MBWE consists of eight 2.5-hour sessions and a 4-6-hour all-day silent retreat. The program adapts to various settings and populations, following the adaptation types proposed by Crane et al. (2017).
